Kitty and the world today

When Kitty emerges from Anne Frank's diary, she is astonished at how different the world is from that of 1944. While the secret annex has become one of the world's most-visited museums where numerous visitors look for traces of Anne, the diary has become one of the most famous testimonies of the Nazi rule, with translations into more than 70 languages. Kitty encounters the name Anne Frank all over Amsterdam as she makes her way through the city’s streets: there is an Anne Frank theatre, an Anne Frank bridge, an Anne Frank hospital, an Anne Frank school, etc. However, on her outing, Kitty also encounters a different world: a large number of refugees are crammed into a run-down building on the edge of town, threatened with deportation. The world has changed since Anne Frank was in hiding in the secret annex, but there are still many people who have to flee to foreign countries for various reasons.
